Multi-Vehicle Crash on A2 Near Canterbury: Emergency Services Respond to Major Incident

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) swiftly responded to reports of a fire at a flat located on Love Lane in Faversham.

Upon receiving the call, two fire engines were dispatched to the scene to address the incident. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus promptly deployed hose reel jets to combat the flames engulfing the property. Following successful extinguishment, crews proceeded to ventilate the premises to ensure the safety of residents.

Tragically, two individuals at the scene required medical attention from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) due to smoke inhalation. Prompt response from emergency services and the diligent efforts of firefighters helped mitigate the impact of the incident.

In addition to the fire crews, KFRS’ Volunteer Response Team was also on hand to provide assistance and support to affected residents during the aftermath of the blaze.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was sparked accidentally, likely stemming from a faulty lithium-ion battery.

The incident underscores the importance of fire safety awareness and precautions, particularly in residential settings. KFRS continues to emphasize the significance of regularly checking electrical appliances and taking necessary precautions to prevent fire hazards.
