David Lammy has revealed another 12 prisoners have been set free in error since November. This adds to the shocking total of 91 accidental releases recorded between April and October this year.
Two Dangerous Offenders Still On The Loose
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, the Justice Secretary said: “I told Parliament a few weeks ago that there had been 91 erroneous releases up to that point. There have been 12 since then, and two individuals remain at large.”
System Improvements Slowly Taking Effect
Lammy stressed he was “pleased the trend is downwards” following new measures designed to tighten release checks. But with hundreds escaping custody by mistake in months, serious questions remain over prison system failings.
