‘Inspiring’ Ashford Coach Dies in Multi-Lorry Smash

Arran McManus, 36, a devoted dad of two from Ashford, lost his life in a brutal collision involving a Nissan Qashqai and two lorries on the M20 near Lenham on Tuesday morning (November 25).

Emergency services rushed to the London-bound carriageway between Junctions 9 and 8, but Arran was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

“Arran embodied what it means to be a great coach, leader, and mentor. He was patient, kind, thoughtful, and inspiring… We’re left numb and in shock that he won’t get to see it through.” — Kennington Juniors FC

Arran began coaching his son’s under-8s team, now under-12s, and was a key figure both on the coaching bench and the executive committee. Notably, he became only the club’s second UEFA B-qualified coach — a proud milestone celebrated by all.

Family and Friends Mourn Devastating Loss

Arran’s partner, Ashleigh Devlin, paid an emotional tribute, saying: “Arran was my partner, my soulmate, and best friend… He was the most wonderful dad to our two incredible children, and he loved them deeply.”

Kennington Juniors added: “Arran’s passion and values will live on in the players he inspired. He was so loved and will be dearly missed.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses After M20 Collision

The crash shut the M20 for hours shortly before 8.30am on Tuesday. At least 10 ambulances, 6 police vehicles, and 11 fire engines responded to the scene.

Authorities have launched a serious collision investigation and urge anyone who saw the crash or the vehicles beforehand to come forward.
