Tragic Death on Hayling Island Nature Trail

A man has died this morning after reportedly falling from his bike on Hayling Island’s popular Billy Trail. Emergency services were called just before 10.40am following the grim discovery.

Dog Walker Raises Alarm

A passing dog walker found the 52-year-old man and his bicycle lying on the ground in a wooded area and immediately raised the alarm. Police quickly cordoned off the scene but confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency Response on the Scene

South Central Ambulance Service received the call at 10.39am and deployed multiple units, including the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, ambulance crews, and emergency care teams.

Spokeswoman Michelle Archer said: “They were assessing and treating the gentleman but sadly he was confirmed deceased at the scene. It is understood to be a cycling accident.”

Police Confirm Cause and Next Steps

A Hampshire police spokesperson added: “Officers were called at 10.51am following the sudden death of a 52-year-old man near Denhill Close on Hayling Island. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
