Blaze Hits Hoxton Flats: 40 Firefighters Battle Fierce Inferno

About 40 firefighters and six engines rushed to a block of flats near Whitmore Road in Hoxton yesterday afternoon to tackle a stubborn blaze.

Four-Storey Building Catches Fire

The fire broke out in a four-storey residential building, damaging most of a flat on the second floor and part of a flat above on the third floor. Miraculously, no injuries were reported.

Rapid Emergency Response

The London Fire Brigade received seven frantic calls starting at 2:17pm. Crews were immediately scrambled from Shoreditch, Shadwell, Homerton, Bethnal Green, Whitechapel, and Dockhead.

A 32-metre turntable ladder from Soho Fire Station was also deployed to help firefighters gain the upper hand.

The blaze was brought under control by 3:28pm, but firefighters stayed on-site for hours, dousing hotspots to stop any flare-ups.

Fire Cause Under Investigation

Authorities are probing the cause of the fire. Fire officers are combing the scene to find out what sparked the dangerous inferno.

Residents nearby have been urged to steer clear while crews complete their work.
