Police have launched a serious investigation in Reading this afternoon after an incident in a local park — believed to be a rape — prompted a heavy emergency services response and the presence of forensics.

Members of the public who were in the Beresford Road Park or Portman Road area earlier today and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious are urged to come forward.
