West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has announced the appointment of Simon Tuhill as its new Chief Fire Officer. Tuhill, currently Deputy Chief Fire Officer of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, was selected following an extensive and competitive recruitment process. He takes over from CFO Brook, who decided to remain in Warwickshire.
Cllr Rizwan Jalil, Chair of the WMFRA Appointments, Standards, and Appeals Committee, praised Tuhill’s appointment, describing him as “an extremely talented candidate” with an impressive track record. Vice Chair Cllr Catherine Miks added, “Simon interviewed exceptionally well, setting out a clear vision for the service’s priority – its people. His wealth of experience will be invaluable.”

Tuhill, who holds a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Incident Command and a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership in Public Services from the University of Warwick, will assume his role pending ratification by the Fire Authority on November 25.

With his extensive experience and dedication, Tuhill is poised to lead West Midlands Fire Service into a new chapter, strengthening its reputation for prevention, protection, and response across the region.
