The first show airing on September 9th. Scott Mills, who announced his departure from Radio 1 earlier this month, will be replaced by Jack.
Jack began his career in student radio before joining Radio 1 in 2018 to present a brand-new music show now known as Radio 1’s Future Artists (Monday – Wednesday) and Radio 1’s Indie Show (Thursdays moving to Sundays in September 2022). He has since become an integral part of the station and a key tastemaker within the music industry, most recently presenting the BBC’s coverage of Glastonbury 2022.
Jack will take over the iconic Radio 1 show from previous hosts such as Jameela Jamil, Clara Amfo, Greg James, and Scott Mills. He’ll be counting down the top 40 best-selling and most streamed singles in the UK with listeners on a weekly basis, as the Singles Chart approaches its 70th anniversary in November.
“I can’t believe my name has been added to the endless list of legends who have presented The Official Chart, and to take over from an amazing broadcaster like Scott Mills is incredible,” says Jack Saunders. I can’t wait to get started and leave my mark.”
Jack is a fantastic presenter who has proven hugely popular with our listeners,” says Aled Haydn Jones, Head of BBC Radio 1. Fans of The Official Chart will undoubtedly enjoy his infectious energy and passion for music, which he will undoubtedly bring to the show.”
“What fantastic news that Jack is to become the latest host of Radio 1’s Official Chart Show,” says Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company. Jack is an ideal choice for the new host of radio’s most vibrant chart show; he is a rising star of British radio, whose meteoric rise at Radio 1 has been meteoric, and who was also one of the stars of the BBC’s Glastonbury TV coverage this year. While Scott will be a difficult act to follow, Jack has a wealth of talent and will undoubtedly bring a new and exciting approach to The Official Chart Show as the Official Singles Chart approaches its 70th anniversary later this year.”
