Horse owners in North Nottinghamshire are being advised to remain vigilant after a horrific incident where a horse was found dead and mutilated in a field near Worksop. The tragic event took place at a property off Owday Lane, Carlton-in-Lindrick, where sixteen-year-old Alfie, a traditional tri-coloured cob, was discovered around 10:30 am on Thursday, 25 July.

Alfie was last seen by his owner in good health at approximately 7 pm the previous evening. The circumstances surrounding the incident have shocked the local community, prompting an intensive police investigation. Nottinghamshire Police, led by Chief Inspector Clive Collings, who specializes in rural and wildlife crime, are currently reviewing CCTV footage, conducting forensic examinations, and performing house-to-house inquiries to gather more information.
