London has been gripped by a horrifying spree of violence, with ten people stabbed and a 15-year-old boy fatally shot across various boroughs from July 20 to July 23. The Metropolitan Police have been stretched thin, responding to a series of brutal incidents in Walthamstow, Bloomsbury, Plumstead, Ladbroke Grove, Streatham, Harold Hill, Seven Sisters, Lewisham, and Harlesden.
Plumstead Double Stabbing
That same evening, another stabbing occurred in Harold Hill, where two men were hospitalized after being attacked in North Hill Drive at approximately 5:40 PM. They too were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Tragedy in Ladbroke Grove
The violence escalated tragically on July 21 when Rene Graham, a 15-year-old boy, was shot dead in Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park in Ladbroke Grove. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:20 PM. Four men were arrested on suspicion of murder: two aged 21 and the others 20 and 25.
Other Incidents Across London
The subsequent days saw several more stabbings:
- A 32-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Walthamstow during the early hours of July 22. A 45-year-old man known to the victim was arrested on suspicion of murder.
- An 18-year-old man was stabbed in Lewisham on July 21 and later hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
- A male was seriously wounded near the British Museum on Great Russell Street and later sought treatment at a hospital.
- In Streatham, a man in his 50s was critically injured after being stabbed multiple times on Abercairn Road.
- Harlesden saw a stabbing incident on High Street on July 22, where the victim later presented himself at a hospital.
- The series of attacks culminated on July 23 with a stabbing at Seven Sisters tube station, where a man was left fighting for his life.
Police Response and Community Impact
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, overseeing policing in Hackney, expressed deep concern over the incidents: “Our communities will be deeply concerned by this event. Urgent enquiries are underway, and my officers are working hard to identify the suspects.”
