A heartbreaking tragedy has struck Winsford after a 12-year-old boy died following a fall from playground equipment at Wharton Recreation Ground.

Emergency crews rushed to the park off Ledward Street on Friday evening (29 August). Despite their desperate efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Probe Underway
Cheshire Police have confirmed the boy’s family has been informed and are receiving specialist support.
“This was a deeply tragic incident involving a very young victim and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the boy who sadly died at the scene,” said Detective Sergeant John Rhodes from the Protecting Vulnerable People Investigations Unit.
“We are asking anyone who was in or around Wharton Recreation Ground at the time and saw anything to come forward and help with our enquiries.
“Please avoid speculation, especially on social media, as this remains an ongoing investigation.”
