A person has died following a flat fire that has ripped through a property in South Hampstead.

Fire crews were called just before 7pm to the blaze in a semi-detached on Netherhall Gardens, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%, on Tuesday (January 31st).

A flat on the first floor of a converted semi-detached %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% was damaged by flames

A person was found and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters and officers from Paddington, North Kensington, and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% attended the scene. 

The cause of the blaze is under %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%%. and an investigation has been launched

The London %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% service and the Met Police have been contacted for more information

A Spokesman for the Met Police said:

At 7.32pm on Tuesday, 31 January the London Fire Brigade alerted police to a fire at a house in Netherhall Gardens, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%%.

Officers attended with fire crews and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%% paramedics.

An elderly woman was brought out of the address by firefighters and immediate medical care was provided to her.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Efforts are underway to locate and inform her next of kin.

The case of the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% is yet to be determined. A cordon will remain in place while an investigation is carried out.


A %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_8%% spokesperson said:

"We were called at 7:27pm today (31 January) to reports of a fire at Netherhall Gardens, Hampstead.

"We sent multiple resources to the incident, including an Incident %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_9%% Officer, a Clinical Team Manager, and members of our hazardous area response team (HART) .

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our medics, a person died at the scene.”
