Mansfield Man Jailed for Brutal Attack on Woman Speaking to Police

Daniel Bonser, 24, launched a savage attack on a woman in Mansfield while she was on the phone to the police reporting his aggressive behaviour. The victim was grabbed by the hair, punched to the floor, then kicked in the face as she lay helpless.

Police Arrest Bonser After Weekend Assault

Officers arrived swiftly on the morning of Friday, 31 July, and arrested Bonser just two hours later. The victim suffered a broken nose and severe bruising in the horrifying assault.

Two Previous Charges Lead to Two-Year Sentence

Bonser admitted to two charges of causing grievous bodily harm without intent. The second charge relates to a similar attack on the same woman back in September 2018.

At Nottingham Crown Court, Bonser of Elston Close, Mansfield was handed a two-year jail term. He also received a five-year restraining order and must pay a £140 victim surcharge.

DC Helen Guttridge said: “These were reprehensible and cowardly attacks that left a young woman with substantial injuries. His actions were utterly indefensible and I am pleased he has now been punished for these offences. I hope that this sentence will bring a degree of comfort to his victim and also send a very clear message to others that this kind of violence is utterly unacceptable.”
