A murder investigation has been launched as man found in east London street dies in hospital

Police were called at 10.30pm on Tuesday, 19 November to Nelson Street, E1, after a man was found collapsed with a head injury. Officers and LAS attended, and the 40-year-old victim was taken to hospital. He died on Thursday, 21 November and his next of kin are being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination to determine cause of death will be held on Monday, 25 November, at Poplar Mortuary. An investigation by homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command is underway. Detective Inspector Perry Benton, said: “We’re still in the early stages of our investigation but it is imperative that anyone with information regarding the incident contacts us as soon as possible. “I am looking to speak to anyone who was in the area that Tuesday night and saw anything suspicious.” There have been no arrests.
