Kirsten Hocking, 30, of no fixed address, was given a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in July 2020 to help her stop offending.
As part of the order, she is prohibited from entering a number of retail establishments in the town centre as well as a number of surrounding roads.
However, in January 2021, she was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to multiple theft charges, which violated her CBO.
She committed additional offences between March 25 and April 21, this year. She stole items from Wilko, Tesco, and Poundland, including washing powder, make-up, aftershave, and food.
She was arrested and charged with five counts of shoplifting as well as six counts of violating her Criminal Behaviour Order.
On 20 May, she was found guilty and sentenced to 24 months in prison at Lewes Crown Court.
Hocking’s offending has had a huge impact on the businesses of Worthing town centre,” said investigating officer PC Rob Luff. This persistent behaviour should not be tolerated by the community.
CBOs are an important tool in the police response to repeat offenders and those who engage in antisocial behaviour.” The courts have imposed a lengthy sentence, which will provide some reassurance and respite to the community.
