Off-Duty Copper Binned After Drunken Beer Bottle Assault in Birmingham Club
PC Howell Canned Immediately
PC Howell, badge number 8877, was fired on the spot by Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi on Monday, 13 March. The reason? A shocking late-night brawl back in December.
Beer Bottle Fling Sparks Assault Probe
On 10 December 2022, the officer was off duty, drunk, and causing chaos inside Snobs nightclub, Birmingham. He threw a beer bottle at a clubgoer, leaving the poor man with a nasty cut on his forehead.
Police Cover-Up Adds Fuel to Fire
West Midlands Police launched a criminal investigation. PC Howell’s case was settled with Community Resolution—but he failed to tell British Transport Police about the incident or the resolution.
Chief Constable Slams ‘Unprovoked Violence’
“This was a deliberate and entirely unprovoked act of violence – which would be shocking in itself by any member of the public, let alone a serving police officer,” said Chief Constable D’Orsi.
“When an officer breaks the law it so seriously undermines public confidence in policing and for that reason I dismissed him with immediate effect. There is simply no place in BTP for people who behave like this.”
