Sasha Mazouz followed the victim into a public toilet on Canterbury Lane on Sunday, June 19, 2022, and pushed him back inside and attempted to assault him as the victim exited the cubicle. The victim escaped before the situation worsened and called the police. Officers arrived on the scene and apprehended Mazouz, 45, of Charlotte Street, Folkestone. During the arrest, the offender attempted to use inappropriate language with a male officer present. He was charged with assault and committing an offence with the intent to commit a sexual offence. He entered a guilty plea on both counts. Mazouz appeared in Canterbury Crown Court on January 12, 2023, and the judge sentenced him to 14 months in prison. Some of his sentence has already been served because of the time Mazouz has spent on remand. He will also be subject to notification requirements for a ten-year period. ‘I would like to thank the victim for his bravery in reporting these offences and supporting the prosecution,’ said Detective Constable Ella Russell of the Canterbury Vulnerability Investigation Team, who led the investigation. As a result, we were able to make an arrest quickly and ensure Mazouz faced the consequences of his actions. ‘Kent Police takes all allegations of assault seriously, and I hope yesterday’s sentencing brings some solace to the victim involved,’ said the chief.
