Folkestone Man Jailed for Toilet Assault in Canterbury

Sasha Mazouz, 45, stalked a victim into a public toilet on Canterbury Lane last June before pushing him back inside and trying to assault him. The victim managed to escape and called the police, who quickly moved in.

Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest

Officers caught Mazouz at the scene. During the arrest, he hurled inappropriate language at a male officer. He was charged with assault and attempting a sexual offence, pleading guilty to both.

Prison Sentence and Long-Term Restrictions

On January 12, 2023, Mazouz was sentenced to 14 months in prison at 1 Crown Court. Part of the sentence was covered by time already served on remand. He will also face strict notification requirements for the next ten years.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage

“I would like to thank the victim for his bravery in reporting these offences and supporting the prosecution,” said Detective Constable Ella Russell from the Canterbury Vulnerability Investigation Team. “Thanks to him, we made a swift arrest and ensured Mazouz faced justice.”
