On 6 May 2023, a man in his 20s went to a venue in Rose Yard with some friends. At around 2.30am he left the premises and became involved in an altercation with Nyron Scott. Scott was in possession of a knife and stabbed the victim four times causing cuts to his face and arm. Bystanders gave first-aid and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment to his wounds.

Officers attended the scene and security staff identified Scott as the offender and provided a CCTV image to assist in the search. Scott was located by patrols in Pudding Lane and the knife he had used in the assault retrieved from where he had discarded it in Earl Street. He was taken into custody and charged. Scott, of Wantage Road, Reading, Berkshire later pleaded guilty to wounding at Maidstone Crown Court. On Thursday 2 November, the 24-year-old was sentenced to 21 months’ imprisonment.
