Burglar Bryant Jailed After Guilty Plea in Yorkshire Crime Spree
A local thug has finally been sentenced at York Crown Court, after pleading guilty to one of a series of burglaries across North and West Yorkshire. Bryant had initially denied all charges but changed his tune on day two of the trial.
Seven Burglaries Targeted Across Yorkshire
Between 23 May and 10 June 2017, Bryant was involved in a string of seven break-ins, hitting homes in Skipton Bridge near Thirsk, Tadcaster, Copmanthorpe, West Lilling, Boston Spa, and Leeds.
Partner in Crime Already Locked Up
Bryant was the second of two men convicted. Steven George Lee, 39, from Leeds, took a 44-month sentence and an 18-month driving ban back in April 2020 after pleading guilty to all charges.
Police Praise Locals and Deliver Tough Justice
“Bryant and Lee carefully planned the targeted burglaries and showed no mercy,” said PC Nicki Gill. “They ransacked homes, stealing items of sentimental and financial value. They even took children’s money boxes and wasted no time using stolen bank cards to buy fuel and cigarettes.”
“Thanks to alert locals who tipped off police, we identified these offenders. To the victims and witnesses, your bravery helped secure justice. We hope this sentence brings some peace knowing Bryant will be behind bars for a long time.”
Dave Pegg from York & Selby Investigation Hub added: “This sentence shows how far police will go to crack down on burglary. These crimes have a lasting impact, and the victims are reassured that justice has been served.”
