Racing Audi Driver Jailed for Death of Two Young Brothers in Wolverhampton Crash
A reckless Audi driver has been locked up for 13 years after a deadly roadside collision killed two young brothers in Wolverhampton.
Speeding Audi Crashes Into Family Car
On the evening of 14 March 2019, Mohammed Sullaiman Khan, 27, was caught on CCTV racing at 92mph along Birmingham New Road. His Audi A3 smashed into a BMW carrying 10-year-old Sanjay Singh and his toddler brother, Pawanveer, 23 months. The boys’ mother, Arathi Nahar, was behind the wheel and suffered serious spinal injuries.
Khan fled the crash scene immediately after the impact. His racing rival, Hamza Shahid, driving a Bentley, narrowly avoided the collision by stopping seconds before.
Shock Lies and Family Devastation
During the trial, it emerged Khan tried to cover his tracks by falsely claiming a burglar had stolen his Audi. The police dismissed it as “a tissue of lies.” Khan’s brother, Asim Khan, also lied to police about the bogus burglary, earning an 18-month suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice.
Speaking from the courtroom, devastated mother Arathi said her life “died on March 14, 2019,” along with her beloved sons.
Sentencing and Justice Served
- Khan was sentenced to 11 years for causing the boys’ deaths.
- He received 38 months concurrently for causing serious injury to their mother.
- An additional two years was handed down for perverting the course of justice.
- Khan faces a seven-year driving ban and must complete an extended driving test when released.
- Hamza Shahid was acquitted of all charges relating to the crash after a three-week trial.
The sentence offers some closure to a grim case that exposes the deadly risks of street racing and the heartbreak left in its wake.
