Alireza Askari, 42, was today locked up for murdering his estranged wife, Paria Veisi, at Cardiff Crown Court. His aunt, Maryam Delavary, 48, also copped jail time for trying to cover up the killing.

Gruesome Discovery in Cardiff Garden

Paria, 37, was stabbed in the neck and chest. Detectives found her body buried in Askari’s garden while probing her disappearance in April 2025. The chilling crime unfolded in Foster Drive, Penylan.

Denials and Deception

  • On April 13, police visited Askari’s home where he and Delavary denied knowing Paria’s whereabouts.
  • Investigators found no sign of life, no financial activity, and Paria’s black Mercedes GLS was nowhere to be seen.
  • Days later, Askari was charged with murder, unlawful burial, and assault.
  • Maryam Delavary faced charges of conspiracy to pervert justice and preventing lawful burial.

Hard Time for Both

Askari received a life sentence with a minimum term of 25 years and 37 days behind bars. Delavary got five and a half years for her part in the cover-up.

Sentencing judge: “This was a brutal and deliberate murder, followed by an appalling attempt to hide the truth.”
