Estranged Husband Locked Up for Gruesome Cardiff Murder
Wife Stabbed and Buried in Garden
Alireza Askari, 42, was sentenced today at Cardiff Crown Court for the savage murder of his estranged wife, Paria Veisi. The 37-year-old was stabbed repeatedly in the neck and chest before being buried in Askari’s own garden in Foster Drive, Penylan.
Aunt Jailed Over Cover-Up
Askari’s aunt, Maryam Delavary, 48, was also sent down for trying to hide the horrific crime. She received five and a half years for conspiracy to pervert justice and preventing the lawful burial of Paria’s body.
Police Hunt and Family Lies
- On April 13, 2025, cops visited the Askari home. Both Alireza and Maryam denied knowing where Paria was.
- Officers found no sign of Paria, no financial activity in her name, and her black Mercedes GLS had vanished.
- Days later, Alireza was hit with charges for murder, unlawful burial, and assault.
- Maryam was charged with conspiracy to pervert justice and preventing lawful burial.
Harsh Sentences Delivered
Askari was handed a life sentence with a minimum of 25 years and 37 days behind bars. His aunt’s five-and-a-half-year stretch reflects her role in the sinister cover-up.
Judge’s verdict: “This was a brutal and deliberate murder, followed by an appalling attempt to hide the truth.”
