Shoplifter Denroy Thomas Jailed After £130 Booze Theft at Tesco
Repeat Offender Caught Red-Handed
Denroy Thomas, 52, from Queens Crescent, was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday (14/09) after stealing over £130 worth of alcohol from Tesco in Emery Gate on September 12.
Suspended Sentence Activated
Thomas was already on a suspended sentence for theft offences dating back to 2019. Due to this latest crime, the suspended sentence was activated, and he must now serve 18 weeks behind bars.
Police Hit Back Against Shoplifting
PC Jack Cassell said: “Thomas is a prolific offender and well known by store workers, having been caught shoplifting multiple times before. On this occasion, he selected several bottles of spirits, used a tool to remove security tags, then hid them inside his jacket and left without paying. I’m pleased he’s been given a custodial sentence – this behaviour isn’t acceptable.”
