Dramatic Medivac as Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat Scrambles to Save Clipper Yacht Crew

The Bembridge RNLI’s All-Weather Lifeboat, RNLB Alfred Albert Williams, launched a daring medivac late Sunday night. At 11:20pm on June 2nd, the Tamar-class lifeboat was called out by the UK Solent Coastguard to rescue a male crew member from the 70-foot Clipper Ventures training yacht CV22.

Race Against Time Seven Miles Out at Sea

The yacht was approximately seven miles south-east of Bembridge, heading back to station. The lifeboat sped to the scene and transferred two crew members to CV22 to assess the casualty.

Swift Rescue and Hospital Transfer

All three men were quickly brought aboard the Alfred Albert Williams, which then raced back to Bembridge. Waiting emergency services whisked the injured crew member away to St Mary’s Hospital for a thorough check-up.

The quick teamwork of Bembridge RNLI and coastguard ensured a smooth and speedy rescue in the heart of the night.
