County Lines Drug Dealer Jailed for 10 Years for Using Teens to Ferry Crack on Trains

Teenagers Forced Into Drug Runs

Lakan Illsley, 28, from Beresford Close, Burton-on-Trent, has been locked up for a decade after being found guilty of exploiting vulnerable teenagers to move crack cocaine via the UK rail network. The British Transport Police’s County Lines Taskforce uncovered how Illsley ruthlessly manipulated young people to carry drugs between locations – a sickening trend sweeping across the country.

Two Jail Sentences Total Ten Years

Illsley admitted two counts of modern slavery and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Stafford Crown Court sentenced him to seven years and six months. On top of that, Staffordshire Police secured a two-year and six-month consecutive sentence for another crack cocaine conspiracy. Altogether, Illsley faces 10 years behind bars.

Joint Police Operation Cracks the Case

The investigation was a joint effort between British Transport Police and Staffordshire Police. They tracked how Illsley and his gang used public transport to smuggle drugs across county lines. The judge slammed Illsley’s “deliberate targeting of young and impressionable people” and called for tough justice.

Police Hit Back Against Exploitation

“This sentence sends a strong message: exploiting young people to further criminal enterprises will not be tolerated. County Lines operations destroy lives – not only those addicted but the children used as drug mules,” said a British Transport Police spokesperson.

“Our teams are working relentlessly with regional forces to dismantle these networks and bring offenders like Illsley to justice.”
