Two cousins have been locked up for a savage kidnapping that left a young man with life-changing injuries. Miles Blakeney and Luke Hazell, both 37, kidnapped a man in his 20s and tortured him for days in a flat in Edgbaston.

Terrifying Abduction on Lozells Streets Caught on Camera

The nightmare began just before 8pm on 21 January 2023. A Land Rover screeched to a halt on Anglesey Street, Lozells. A gang of balaclava-wearing men jumped out, chased down the victim, threw him into the car, ripped off his coat, and covered his head. The chilling scene shocked onlookers.

Victim’s Tearful Call Exposes Ransom Demand

The kidnappers sped about two miles to a flat in Edgbaston. Minutes later, a family member alerted police. The victim then called another relative from a hidden number, sobbing:

“They have kidnapped me, they have kidnapped me. They want money. They want three mill (£3m).”

Harsh Jail Sentences Handed Down

In January, Hazell of Dovedale Road and Blakeney from Ashley Close were found guilty of conspiracy to kidnap, false imprisonment, blackmail, and wounding with intent. At Birmingham Crown Court on 27 April, Hazell was sentenced to 16 years behind bars. Blakeney received 10 years. Justice served for a terrifying ordeal.
