Serial Abuser Darren Gibson Gets Longer Prison Term
Darren Gibson, 56, the predator DJ who groomed and abused girls as young as nine in the late 1990s, has been slapped with an additional 12 years behind bars. This comes on top of the 24-year sentence he’s already serving.
The DJ pleaded guilty to 43 counts of child sexual abuse, including eight rapes, in November. His appalling crimes shocked Leeds Crown Court in 2024, where he was initially convicted of 14 counts.
Partner in Crime Rebecca Kirton Also Faces More Jail Time
Adding to the scandal, Gibson’s adoptive sister and partner, Rebecca Kirton, 41, admitted guilt to 14 new counts of child abuse linked to the case. She received another 7 years and 6 months, stacked onto her existing 12-year sentence.
New Victims Speak Out After Media Coverage
After their original convictions were flashed in the headlines, more victims bravely came forward. West Yorkshire Police launched a fresh probe, uncovering abuse against 12 additional victims, aged between nine and 15.
During sentencing at Leeds Crown Court on 18 March, judges confirmed these fresh offences will extend the pair’s time behind bars.
Harsh Minimum Sentences Enforced
- Darren Gibson must serve at least 24 years before being considered for release.
- Rebecca Kirton’s sentence now totals nearly 20 years.
The court’s tough stance sends a clear message: predators like Gibson and Kirton will get locked up for life.
