Man Jailed for Raping Unconscious Woman in Hackney
Mark Anderson has been slammed with an eight-year prison sentence for raping an unconscious woman in Hackney. He exploited the victim’s vulnerable state caused by a medical condition, committing the vile attack at his home on Shafton Road.
Attack Took Place During Woman’s Seizure
The horrific assault happened on August 6 last year. The victim suffered a seizure while at Anderson’s flat, leaving her frozen and unable to consent. She later confronted Anderson, who chillingly responded, “Yeah good!”
The victim bravely reported the crime immediately, prompting a police investigation. Officers uncovered Anderson’s violent attempts to downplay the victim’s medical condition and deny the assault.
Victim Describes Life-Shattering Aftermath
“I have nightmares, constant fear, and anxiety. I even had suicidal thoughts. I was once confident, but now I feel like an empty shell,” the victim told the court. “I cannot even go out alone without being terrified.”
Anderson was also handed a three-month sentence for a separate assault in May last year, involving verbal aggression and throwing clothes at another victim.
Detective Condemns Exploitation, Praises Victim’s Courage
Detective Constable Daniel Neville, who led the probe, slammed Anderson for taking advantage of the victim’s condition. He said the strong evidence disproved Anderson’s claims of consensual sex, ensuring justice was served.
This sentence sends a clear message: predators who exploit vulnerability will face harsh consequences, and survivors’ courage can bring them down.
