A reckless driver from Hailsham used his car as a deadly weapon, killing a 24-year-old man and seriously injuring another. Kyle Dumble, 27, was slammed with a life sentence after his shocking rampage.

Life Behind Bars for Kyle Dumble

On January 24, Kyle Dumble was convicted at Hove Trial Centre of murder, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and driving while disqualified and uninsured. The court handed him life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 17 years to serve.

The horrifying incident happened on the night of November 18, 2023, on Western Road, Hailsham. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a man struck by a vehicle that then sped off.

Victim Jack Field Tragically Dies

Jack Field, 24, suffered critical injuries and later died. Another man escaped with severe bruises. Witnesses revealed that after a fight broke out, Dumble drove his black Mitsubishi Shogun onto the pavement, deliberately targeting Jack and his friends. He repeatedly charged forward and reversed over the group before fleeing.

Just a day later, Dumble handed himself in to police and was arrested.

Family and Police React to Verdict

“Jack was a loving son, brother, and friend – the most selfless, respectful gentleman who would do anything for anyone,” said his family. “He will never be replaced and has left a gaping hole, but he will live in our hearts forever. Although nothing can bring Jack back, we are pleased justice has been served.”

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell praised the family’s strength and the investigative team’s determination. “Nothing can make up for Jack’s loss, but with the killer behind bars, I hope the family can now mourn in peace,” he said.
