Lucy McHugh trial halted

A murder trial has been put on hold after the man accused of the murder of Lucy McHugh has been taken ill. Former Carer worker Stephen Nicholson is receiving hospital treatment after becoming unwell the court heard The judge advise court that the ongoing murder trial would be bolted as it wouldn’t be fair to continue without the defendant being present. Nicholson is accused of stabbing the teenager in the neck and upper body in woodland at A Sports Centre in Southampton in July last year. He also faces a number of underage sex charges and rapes the he has denied. Nicholson remains in custody at Winchester prison.
