Lucy McHugh Murder Trial Scoops Halt After Defendant Falls Ill

The tightly-watched murder trial of Stephen Nicholson, accused of killing young Lucy McHugh, has been abruptly paused. Nicholson fell seriously ill and is now receiving hospital treatment, the court was told.

Judge Calls Halt to Trial

The judge announced that the trial must be adjourned as it would be unfair to continue without the defendant present in court. Nicholson remains in custody while his health is monitored.

Brutal Stabbing at Southampton Sports Centre

Nicholson, a former carers’ worker, faces a chilling charge of stabbing Lucy, aged 13, in the neck and upper body in woodland near a Southampton sports centre last July.

Additional Charges Shadow Trial

Aside from the murder charge, Nicholson is also battling multiple underage sex allegations and rape charges— all of which he denies.

He is currently held at a high-security prison as the case remains on hold pending his health recovery.
