Man Charged After Car Theft with Toddler Inside Shocks Chatham
Kent Police have charged Solly Robinson, 31, from Chatham, following a shocking car theft incident involving a four-year-old child.
Kidnapping and Theft Spark Alarm
Robinson faces charges of kidnap, driving without a licence or insurance, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. The theft happened on Chatham High Street at 4.45pm on Friday, 4 May 2018.
Child Found Safe After Horrifying Ordeal
- The child was reportedly inside the stolen car during the incident.
- After the theft, the child was dropped off outside Chatham railway station.
- A member of the public found the youngster safe and well and contacted police immediately.
- Officers reunited the child with their mother by 5pm the same day.
Suspect Back in Court Soon
The stolen car was later abandoned on Rochester Street in Chatham. Robinson appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 9 May 2018, and was remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, 6 June 2018.
