Man Charged with Rape and Robbery in Gallions Park Attack
A 22-year-old man has been charged following a shocking attack in Gallions Park, SE28. Desmond Atumkeze, from Greenwich, is accused of raping and robbing a woman on the evening of Friday, 8 November, between 8.30pm and 9pm.
Swift Arrest and Court Appearance
Atumkeze was arrested just three days later on Monday, 11 November, on suspicion of rape and robbery. Less than 24 hours after his arrest, he was formally charged on Tuesday, 12 November.
Remanded Ahead of Crown Court Hearing
He appeared at Bexley Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 13 November, where he was remanded in custody. Atumkeze is set to face Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, 11 December for his next hearing.
