Man Found Guilty of Murdering Teen in Brutal Knife Attack

Felipe Figueiredo, 28, has been convicted of murdering 15-year-old Dylan Bragger in a shocking attack that has rocked Skelmersdale. The tragedy unfolded on the evening of June 29 last year near a footbridge over Digmoor Road.

Chased Down Teen Over Stolen Motorbike

The court heard Figueiredo acted on messages that his wife’s stolen motorbike had been spotted nearby with two teenage boys. Determined to retrieve it, he went searching for the suspects. Around 9pm, he came across Dylan and his cousin.

A verbal argument quickly escalated. Figueiredo chased the pair down an embankment and then fatally stabbed Dylan. After the horrific assault, he left the boy seriously wounded in the bushes and fled, disposing of the weapon before returning home.

Dylan Dies From 23 Knife Wounds

Dylan’s cousin called 999 immediately, but paramedics arrived too late. The post-mortem revealed Dylan suffered at least 23 knife wounds to his head, neck, chest, back, and abdomen, along with other severe injuries. These wounds caused his death.

“Our thoughts are with Dylan’s family and friends in this terrible time,” said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows. “Knife crime has no place in Lancashire, and we must all work to stop it.”

Prosecutor Demands Justice for Teen

Katie Lord, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, described the attack as a relentless knife assault on a teenage boy. Despite Figueiredo’s self-defence claim, the jury found him unanimously guilty of murder.

“This case is a stark reminder that those who carry knives and use violence will face the full consequences,” Lord said.

Figueiredo will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on Friday, January 26.
