A 27-year-old man is in stable condition following a shooting incident on Stainbeck Road in Leeds earlier today, prompting West Yorkshire Police to launch a major investigation.

The incident occurred near the junction with Stainbeck Avenue at approximately 2.47pm when emergency services were alerted by the ambulance service. Armed police officers responded swiftly to the scene and located the victim, a local resident, further up Stainbeck Road suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to contact them. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team has led to the jailing of a Folkestone drug dealer" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpil-monitor-id="49097">suspicious activity in the area around the time of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is an increased police presence in the area as officers work to ensure the safety of the local community.
