Portsmouth Drug Dealer Jailed for Seven Years
A 31-year-old man has been locked up for seven years after being caught dealing heroin and crack cocaine in Portsmouth.
Kebba Faye, from Carpathia Drive in Southampton, was arrested on Tuesday, 5 March by Portsmouth’s Priority Crime Team. Officers spotted him dealing with suspected buyers on Britannia Road North.
Police Snatch Dealer with Drugs and Cash
Faye was seen approaching a potential customer before darting into a property on Talbot Road and quickly leaving. When officers tried to stop him on the street, he made a run for it but was caught.
During the arrest, police found a sock stuffed with 30 to 40 wraps of suspected Class A drugs, £400 cash, and a phone.
Guilty After Four-Day Trial
Faye was charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine. After a four-day trial at Portsmouth Crown Court, he was found guilty on 16 August and sentenced to seven years in prison on 6 September.
PC Sam Davy from the Priority Crime Team said:
“Faye’s sentence is a direct result of the proactive work undertaken by the Priority Crime Team in the city to disrupt drugs supply. We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in Portsmouth. Our message to those involved in drug supply is simple: we will relentlessly pursue you until you face a day in court.”
Community Alert: Spot the Signs of Drug Dealing
PC Davy stressed the harm drug dealing inflicts on communities and urged locals to stay vigilant. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by calling 101, visiting the Hampshire Constabulary website, or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
Watch out for signs like:
- Frequent unexplained absences from school or home
- Travel to unfamiliar places alone
- Sudden wealth, flashy new clothes, or multiple mobile phones
- Increased phone activity or secretive behaviour
- Carrying or selling drugs
- Connections with weapons or suspicious individuals
- Relationships with older, controlling people
- Unexplained injuries or signs of fear and self-harm
The police remain committed to making Portsmouth a no-go zone for drug dealers and protecting the public from the misery caused by illegal drugs.
