Man stabbed in the abdomen rushed to hospital in Liscard

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Liscard earlier today, Saturday 8th June. At 7am today a 25 year-old man went to Arrowe Park Hospital with an injury to his abdomen. He said that he had been walking home through Central Park at approximately midnight when he was approached by a group of males near to the pond. They were aggressive to him and one of the males assaulted him with an unknown weapon. The man initially went home before later presenting at the hospital. He was treated for his injury which is not believed to be life-threatening. At this stage the motive for the assault is not clear and an investigation is underway. CCTV enquiries are also being carried out in the local area. Anyone who was in the area around Central Park in the early hours of this morning who may have witnessed anything or has any information which could assist the investigation is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
