Murder charge after death of woman in Sittingbourne

Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Sittingbourne have charged a man with murder. Officers were called to an address in Hurst Lane, Kemsley, in the early hours of Tuesday 31 July 2018 where the body of a 64-year-old woman was found. The Crown Prosecution Service has now authorised a charge of murder against Michael Packman, 66, following an investigation by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate. Mr Packman, of Hurst Lane, was taken to a London hospital following the incident but was discharged and taken into custody on Saturday 4 August. He is due to appear before Medway magistrates on Monday 6 August. Mr Packman and the woman who died were known to one another and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Steve Knight
