Police were called shortly before 6 a.m. yesterday after a man was discovered unresponsive in the Tesco car park on Stratford Road.
The man, in his 60s, was discovered without his mobility scooter, which he relies on for transportation.
Paramedics took him to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where he died later that day. His next of kin have been notified.
It is believed that the victim was robbed and that his mobility scooter was stolen.
A woman from Stroud was arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder and is still being held by police today (Monday 23 January).
Police want to hear from anyone who saw a black mobility scooter being used in the Paganhill area between 2 and 4 a.m. yesterday (Sunday). It is described as having four wheels, a front basket, and arm rests.
A mobility scooter, believed to be the victim’s, was discovered abandoned on Bisley Old Road by a member of the public later that morning, shortly before 8 a.m.
Officers are at the start of a murder investigation led by the Major Crime Investigation Team.
Officers are asking residents in the area to check their doorbell cameras and CCTV to see if they have any footage of the mobility scooter or it being driven that could help the ongoing investigation.
Police are also interested in hearing from any drivers who were in the area and may have dashcam footage.
