Teen Assaulted by Off-Duty Met Officer in Essex Brawl

A 14-year-old boy was assaulted by a Metropolitan Police officer in Essex, sparking outrage. PC Paul Bewsey, who serves with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was off-duty when the incident went down.

Fight Breaks Out on Hanging Hill Lane

The clash happened on April 21 in Brentwood. Essex Police revealed the officer and the teenager got into a heated fight, which escalated into an assault. Details of the argument and whether the teen was hurt remain unclear.

Officer Charged, Court Date Set

PC Bewsey was charged on October 21. He’s set to appear at Basildon Magistrates Court on November 24. In the meantime, he’s been placed on restricted duty while an internal probe by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is underway.
