Woman Found Guilty of Murder in Shocking Domestic Violence Case
Joanne Moran, 43, from Litherland, has been convicted of murdering Jonathan Gibbons following a trial at Liverpool Crown Court.
Stabbing in Early Morning Horror
At around 4.45am on 30 October 2022, police were called to a property on Bridge Road after reports that a 50-year-old man had been stabbed in the chest. Jonathan Gibbons was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly died later that day.
Police Condemn Domestic Abuse
Moran denied the charge, but the court found her guilty. Merseyside Police expressed their commitment to tackling domestic abuse in all its forms.
“Domestic abuse is a shocking and reprehensible crime and it is never acceptable, irrespective of who it affects,” said a police spokesperson.
Support and Justice for Victims
The police emphasised their dedication to thorough investigations and prosecution of offenders, while providing full support to survivors.
- “We work closely with partners to encourage victims to come forward and receive help.”
- “We focus on evidence-led prosecutions, even when victims are reluctant to press charges.”
- “If you’re in a violent or controlling relationship, don’t stay silent—support is available.”
- Neighbors and friends are urged to trust their instincts and report suspicious behaviour.
Domestic abuse is more than physical violence—it includes emotional, sexual, financial, and controlling behaviour. The message is clear: speak up, get help, and break the cycle of abuse.
