A prisoner who murdered another inmate using furniture as weapons at HMP Maidstone has been convicted following a trial.
Rabat was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. Despite initially denying responsibility, Rabat was later found guilty by a jury after compelling forensic evidence linked him directly to the crime.

During the trial, it emerged that Rabat had violently assaulted Mr Adi using a broken chair, locker, and the ceramic fragments of the toilet lid, causing severe head injuries and internal damage. He had attempted to justify his actions as self-defence, claiming he had been threatened.

However, the jury rejected his claim, convicting him of murder following a two-week trial at Maidstone Crown Court.

Rabat remains in custody awaiting sentencing. The judge described the murder as an exceptionally violent act, stressing the severity and brutality of the assault.
