Shoplifter Banged Up for 100 Days After Swale Spree
Sittingbourne crook Shelley Earnshaw, 31, has been locked up for over three months after a string of shoplifting raids in Swale. The serial thief hit local stores multiple times, nabbing £264 worth of goods in just over two weeks.
Targeted Stores and Stolen Goods
Between 31 July and 16 August 2024, Earnshaw swiped laundry products, toiletries, and meat from Morrisons in Milton Regis. She also struck the Co-op on Aspen Drive, Sheerness, twice, stuffing her bag with stolen items and walking out without paying.
Jailed and Slapped with Tough Behaviour Order
After being charged with seven counts of theft, Earnshaw pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates’ Court. She was sentenced to 100 days behind bars and hit with a strict Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for when she’s released.
- The CBO bans her from entering several shops across Swale.
- She must avoid behaviour that causes distress to staff or shoppers.
- She is prohibited from carrying anything other than a clear bag or small clutch handbag into stores.
Police Vow to Crack Down on Shoplifters
Police Sergeant Dan Bartlett said: “We’re determined to stop prolific thieves like Earnshaw from targeting local stores. Shoplifting hits businesses hard and upsets shop workers. Our beat officers will continue to investigate and ensure offenders are caught. Criminal Behaviour Orders help us keep tabs on repeat offenders and act fast if rules are broken.”
The CBO aims to protect Swale’s shops and businesses from repeat offenders like Earnshaw, helping to keep the local community safe from crime.
