Couple Jailed for Luring Man into Knife Threat and Robbery
Deceptive Romance Turns Violent
A pair of dangerous criminals conned a man in his 50s into believing he had a new romance – only to threaten him with a knife and rob his home. Hollie Cheeseman, 32, tricked the victim into thinking they were a couple after a chance meeting in Herne Bay last June.
After spending days building trust, Cheeseman invited the man to her flat, where her partner, Jeremy Long, 41, waited armed with a knife. Long demanded cash and tried to withdraw £100 using the victim’s bank card – but failed.
Armed Robbery at Victim’s Own Home
Not giving up, Long scared the victim back to his own address, still threatening him with the knife. There, the couple ransacked the flat, stealing a TV, laptop, and games console. The audacity? When police arrived to arrest them, the pair were found chilling out, watching the stolen telly.
Justice Served at Canterbury Crown Court
- Cheeseman denied charges at trial but was found guilty of robbery and false imprisonment. She received a six-year sentence.
- Long admitted two counts of robbery, false imprisonment, and possessing an offensive weapon. He was also sentenced to six years behind bars.
Detective Sergeant Jay Robinson said: “Cheeseman’s manipulative tactics, paired with Long’s knife threats, caused the victim a terrifying ordeal. We’re glad justice is done, and these dangerous offenders are off the streets.”
