A gang mastermind and his crew have been caught over the brutal killing of 22-year-old Sharmake Mohamud in Green Lanes, N8. The shocking attack on 21 September 2021 also left two other men injured in a hail of gunfire.
Ali Ceesay Pleads Guilty
Ali Ceesay, 29, with no fixed address, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to his role in the deadly assault. The gang drove a stolen car through 123 Lanes before launching the ambush. It’s unclear if Sharmake was their original target, but once they spotted him walking, they zeroed in with deadly intent.

“The community has been devastated by his murder and have shown tremendous strength and courage to support this investigation. I can only hope that these convictions will bring them some small sense of justice.”
Other Suspects Face Mixed Fortunes
- Rasit Musa was acquitted of all charges.
- The jury couldn’t reach a verdict on a third suspect, a 17-year-old male.
