Suspected Dealer Detained and Cocaine Seized in Chatham

A suspected drug dealer has been arrested and charged after cocaine and other items were seized during a police operation in Chatham.

The arrest was made on Thursday, 20 March, when Kent Police officers on patrol stopped a man walking near New Road. Officers suspected the individual was involved in the supply of cocaine.

According to police, the suspect attempted to flee and allegedly assaulted two constables during the altercation. The man was detained at the scene, and a subsequent search led to the discovery of multiple drug deals, a mobile phone, and a quantity of cannabis.

Man Charged with Multiple Offences

The suspect, identified as Andre Mitroiu, 24, of St Williams Way, Rochester, has now been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply
  • Possession of cannabis
  • Two counts of assaulting a police officer
  • Attempting to escape lawful custody

Mr Mitroiu was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 21 March.

Police Crack Down on Drug Supply

Kent Police said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug networks and protect communities from the dangers associated with Class A drug supply and related violence.

A spokesperson for the force added:

“We are committed to targeting those who supply harmful substances in our communities and will continue to take action against anyone involved in drug-related crime.”
