Teen Charged with Murder Following Fatal Shooting of 16-Year-Old Lathaniel Burrell in Stockwell

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Lathaniel Burrell in Stockwell, south London.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 4, when Lathaniel was shot on Paradise Road, SW4. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite efforts to save him, the teenager was pronounced dead after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

The 17-year-old suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is due to appear at Bromley Youth Court at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 12. He is the second individual to be charged in connection with the fatal shooting.

Second Man Also Charged

Earlier this week, Omar Prempeh, aged 32, was also charged with murder in relation to the ongoing police investigation. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 10, and is scheduled to appear before the Old Bailey on Wednesday, March 12.

Ongoing Investigation

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing. The motive for the shooting has not yet been confirmed, but officers are pursuing several lines of inquiry.

A Met Police spokesperson said:
Our thoughts remain with Lathaniel’s family during this incredibly difficult time. Specialist officers continue to support them as the investigation progresses.”
