Two More Jailed in Kirkby Drug and Gun Crime Crackdown
Police have cheered the sentencing of two more men locked up for a combined 22 years, smashing a major drug and firearms ring in Kirkby. This latest verdict pushes the total prison time handed down in the operation to over 74 years.
New Sentences: Farrell and Harding Behind Bars
- John Farrell, 40, from Westvale’s Minstead Avenue, was slammed with 16 years for conspiracy to possess firearms, ammunition, explosives, and to supply Class A drugs.
- Joseph Harding, 55, of Cawthorne Avenue, was sentenced to six years and four months for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
Crackdown on Dangerous Crime Gang
The investigation began with a 2019 bust, which uncovered a stash of drugs and weapons from gang-run safe houses led by the Nash brothers. Police found nearly 7 kilos of cocaine worth up to £690,000 and a cache of loaded firearms and explosives hidden in a Kirkby loft.
- Terence Nash, 35, got 24 years for multiple conspiracies including possession of firearms and Class A drugs.
- Anthony Nash, 36, received 15-and-a-half years for drug supply conspiracies.
- Dennis Boyton, 43, was jailed for seven years, three months for drug supply.
- Ronnie McPadden, 35, handed six years, four months for drug conspiracy.
Two more men involved are yet to be sentenced.
Police Warn: Crime Doesn’t Pay
“This has been a long-running investigation, and we are delighted this organised crime group has been dismantled,” said Detective Inspector Christopher Lowe.
“The Nash brothers ran a dangerous network handling drugs, guns and explosives. We will continue to hit hard those involved in gun crime and drug supply to protect our communities.”
Knowsley Community Policing Chief Inspector Phil Mullally added: “Residents have already felt the benefits of taking this crime gang off the streets. We urge anyone who suspects drug or weapons activity to come forward – anonymously if they prefer – so we can keep Kirkby safe.”
