Gold Ring Thieves Locked Up After High-Value Haul
Two crooks have been jailed for stealing an 18-carat gold and diamond ring worth up to £100,000 from an Eastbourne business. Shabir Patel and Khaqan Raja were caught on camera and swiftly brought to justice.
Fast Police Action Nabs Thieves in Surrey
On April 26, Surrey 123 Crown Court sentenced Raja, 36, from Blackburn, Lancashire, to two years and four months for driving while disqualified and the theft of the gold, platinum, and diamond ring. Patel, 39, also from Blackburn, was jailed for one year after admitting to the same theft.
Police Praise Public Tip-Off and Skilled Arrest
Detective Constable Ciara Richardson said the duo thought they’d get away with the daring Sussex jewellery heist. “Thanks to public reports and quick police action, we stopped them in their tracks.”
Superintendent Rachel Glenton, Head of Roads Policing at Sussex and Surrey Police, applauded the officers’ professionalism. “They safely arrested the two offenders without any harm.”
